This weekend I got to hang out with my good friend Jodi aka Granolamom4God and learn more about essential oils. I invited her to teach us about 12 essential oils that were used in the Bible. It was a fascinating class! It brought some of those Bible verses that I had glossed over before into a new light.

For years I could not relate to these words. I had no clue what they were, what they smelled like, or what they would even be used for. So I just skipped over it when reading the Bible— kind of like I do with the names I can’t pronounce. 
“There is Treasure to be Desired and Oil in the House of the Wise.” –Proverbs 21:20
I have a better understanding of what “Wash me with hyssop” means in Psalm 51 and why Frankincense and Myrrh were such valuable gifts. I now know that Spikenard (or Nard) was the “perfume” poured on Jesus feet (and was mostly likely also mixed with Myrrh.) I am so in awe of what God has created! Essential oils had a purpose and still have a purpose today!
